Plusimpex B.V. imports and supplies bulk in-shell nuts from the Netherlands to distributors, roasters, snack packers and retail chains across Europe. In-shell pistachios (raw, roasted and salted), in-shell walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts and mixed nuts in shell — sized, laser-sorted for closed shells and blanks, aflatoxin-tested and packed from 10 kg cartons and 25 kg sacks to big bags and full container programmes.
Our in-shell range
In-shell nuts are bought by count, shell colour and open-shell percentage as much as by origin. The six lines below cover the snack, retail and festive demand we see most — tell us the channel and we will match variety, size and roast to it.
Iranian Akbari, Ahmad Aghaei, Fandoghi and Kaleh Ghuchi; Californian Kerman; Turkish Antep. Naturally opened, raw or roasted & salted (also lemon, saffron and chilli), 95%+ open, closed shells and blanks removed.
Chandler, Hartley and Howard walnuts from the USA, Chile, France and Iran. Jumbo (32 mm+), large and medium, bleached or natural shell, washed and dried to 8% moisture for retail nets and festive packs.
Soft-shell and paper-shell almonds from Iran, Spain and California for snacking and festive mixes. Raw or roasted, natural or salted, easy-crack shells with high kernel yield.
Turkish Levant and Giresun, Italian Tonda Gentile and Azerbaijani hazelnuts in shell, calibrated 18–20 mm and 20–22 mm for retail mixed-nut packs and Christmas nut bowls.
Virginia jumbo and fancy, Valencia and Runner in-shell peanuts from Egypt, Argentina, China and the USA. Raw for roasters, or roasted and salted for retail bags and food service.
Fixed-recipe festive mixes of walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and pecans in shell, plus in-shell macadamia and pecans as single lines. Packed in nets, bags or bulk for seasonal retail programmes.
Quality & specification
With in-shell nuts the shell hides the defect. Blanks, closed shells, stained shells and internal mould only show up when the consumer cracks the nut — so the sorting and the sampling behind the lot matter more than with kernels. Before a shipment is confirmed we align origin, size, open-shell percentage, moisture and packaging with your specification sheet and document it on the certificate of analysis that travels with the goods.

Sourcing & logistics
We buy directly from growers, hullers and processors in Iran, Türkiye, the USA, Chile, Spain and Egypt, and consolidate through the Port of Rotterdam — Europe's largest food-import gateway with dedicated nut inspection facilities. One supplier, one set of documents and one delivery, however many origins are in the container.

Buyer questions
For most products the practical minimum is one pallet (around 500–1,000 kg) per item, which can be combined with other Plusimpex products into a mixed container. In-shell nuts are bulky, so a 40 ft container holds roughly 12–18 t depending on the product; full loads receive the most competitive pricing.
It is the share of pistachios whose shell has split naturally on the tree, so the consumer can open them by hand. We supply naturally opened pistachios at 95% or higher, with closed shells and blanks (empty shells) removed by sorting; mechanically opened grades are available at lower cost on request.
Pistachios from Iran, the USA and Türkiye; walnuts from the USA, Chile, France and Iran; almonds from Iran, Spain and California; hazelnuts from Türkiye, Italy and Azerbaijan; peanuts from Egypt, Argentina, China and the USA. Origin and variety are always stated on the offer and on the documents.
Every lot is tested for aflatoxin at origin and, for high-risk origins such as pistachios from Iran and Türkiye or peanuts from Egypt, again on arrival by an accredited EU laboratory. We manage the pre-notification and border-control-post inspection in Rotterdam so the goods are released and delivered cleared.
The shell protects the kernel, so in-shell nuts keep longer than kernels: 12–18 months in a cool (below 15 °C), dry, ventilated warehouse away from light. Roasted and salted pistachios are best sold within 12 months of roasting. See our storage guides.
